PARK ORCHARD — Following a 31-17 loss to the Buffalo Bills in the opening round of the playoffs, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have many serious questions going into the offseason. Chief among them will be Mike Tomlin’s future.
Nevertheless, after the Steelers’ 4th consecutive playoff loss to the Bills—which also ended the team’s 7-year postseason winless streak—the team’s veterans in particular threw their full support behind Tomlin.
“I’m sure glad I’m here. “Coach [Tomlin] is someone I adore,” said cornerback Patrick Peterson. “Everything he’s done to motivate us, to put us in the right position to be successful – there’s no doubt in my mind he’s the right guy for the job.”
rookie offensive lineman During his rookie season as a professional football player, Broderick Jones acknowledged that Tomlin challenged him and provided him with a great deal of support, describing Tomlin’s coaching style as unlike anything he had ever encountered.
“Mike T was the best coach I’ve ever had. I’m just not used to his coaching style,” Broderick remarked. “He’s a nice guy. He’s a different kind of coach; I just need to get used to the regular conversations and the fact that he doesn’t yell at or get angry with you. He does a great deal for the team and for me, and I truly appreciate that. I just try to take the challenge when he talks to me and tells me what he needs from me.”
