he is back..

In 2024, the running back room of the Green Bay Packers will appear very different.

The Packers are reportedly going to release veteran cornerback Aaron Jones, just hours after deciding to sign Las Vegas standout running back Josh Jacobs.

With 5,940 rushing yards, Jones is third in team history behind only Ahman Green (8,322) and Jim Taylor (8,207). Jones has 45 rushing touchdowns, which ranks fourth in Packers history.

In the previous offseason, Jones renegotiated his contract, reducing his salary from $16 million to $11 million. This time, a satisfactory middle ground was evaded by both parties.

Even before they settled on terms with Jacobs, the Packers had no intention of paying Jones’ $17.6 million 2024 cap amount. The Packers will save $11.9 million this season against the cap if they hold off on releasing Jones until Wednesday, when the new league year officially begins.
