Because Neil Warnock is available, some believe he should be brought in to replace Ian Foster because Plymouth Argyle is getting too close to the Championship drop zone.
Veteran manager Warnock – now 75 years of age – has already held two managerial positions this season.
He was with Huddersfield Town for the opening eight games of the 2023/24 campaign – Warnock had dragged them to survival last season, despite being seemingly dead and buried when he arrived back in Yorkshire, but he was replaced less than two months into the current campaign for Darren Moore.
He took the Aberdeen job in early February, but left after just 34 days on March 9. He’d won just two games with the club in that short time, but he did help the Dons to reach the Scottish Cup semi-final.
Warnoc has said that he has had offers from clubs in the second tier already, and given the battle for survival that’s going on at the foot of the table and his pedigree in saving teams from relegation, that should come as no surprise.
The appointment of Warnock would benefit Plymouth greatly.
One of the clubs that were calling Warnoc could have been Argyle, who have been dragged back into the battle due to only picking up five points from their last nine league matches.
Warnock of course is a former manager of Plymouth, having taken charge between 1995 and 1997 and he won promotion with the Devon outfit in 1996 to what is now League One, and he still has a house in the area too.
